Appointments, schedule and insurance

Please note that my practice is full at this time and I am unable to accept new patients. If you are a current or former patient you may contact me by phone or e-mail to set up an appointment.

I am in the office Monday through Thursday and can schedule appointments from 8:30am until 7:30pm. The initial appointment is typically 90 minutes long, while follow-up appointments are from 30 to 60 minutes.

I accept the major health insurance plans in the Rochester area including Excellus, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, MVP (now Beacon Health), Cigna and Medicare. If I do not accept your insurance you may pay for treatment directly or you may be able to have some portion of the treatment costs covered if your plan includes out of network benefits. Many plans now include deductibles that must be met before your insurance will pay for visits. Please contact your health insurance plan directly to confirm coverage or to ask specific questions about your plan benefits.

My training and experience

My career is unique among psychologists and includes experience in business, technology and behavioral health research and practice. This variety of training and experience has improved my clinical skills resulting in solution focused, data driven treatment protocols.

I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University in Washington, DC where I concentrated on Health and Community Psychology. I then specialized in behavioral medicine as a fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Following my post-doctoral fellowship I joined Patient Infosystems as Director of Outcomes Management where I focused on developing technology based treatment protocols for individuals with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and congestive heart failure. Additionally, I managed both the quality assurance and program outcomes teams.

While starting my private practice I held faculty positions at University of Rochester and the George Washington University where I provided data analytic and intervention support for grant funded investigations researching family adjustment to breast cancer and Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for insomnia.

Currently I am in private practice as a licensed Clinical Psychologist. I treat adults with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias, insomnia, obsessions and compulsions, and other conditions that respond well to proven cognitive and behavioral strategies.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a treatment approach that includes well documented treatment protocols for many mental health conditions. Treatment is generally shorter term than other forms of therapy and the strategies are specific and observable. CBT as a practical hands-on approach that can help individuals understand how their thoughts and behaviors impact their mood and overall well-being. The primary goal of CBT is to identify the patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to their unwanted symptoms. By making change to these thinking and behavior patterns an individual can change the way they feel!

Behavioral Medicine

Behavioral Medicine combines both behavioral and biomedical sciences. From that perspective, CBT can be included as a component of a behavioral medicine intervention. The goal of behavioral medicine is to understand how behavior can impact health and well-being, and to develop and test behavior change interventions that help individuals avoid or manage chronic medical and behavioral conditions, and to maximize wellness by promoting healthy living. In other words…Behavioral Medicine can teach you how to change your behavior to improve your health and well-being!
